A holiday rant.
I absolutely hate it when people insist on trying to guess what you are giving them as a gift.
It seems extremely rude to me - it’s already hard to try to figure out something nice to give people as gifts. Most people spend a lot of time coming up with something thoughtful which shows you actually spent time picking something they’d like. It drives me bonkers when people I know go around to my friends and start doing the whole “o noes, I think I guessed it, I feel so bad” game to try to figure out what they’re getting.
Even if I do guess, or even flat out KNOW what I am getting from someone, I have the good manners to at least pretend I don’t know, and I certainly don’t go around blabbing to that person’s best friends that I know what it is and oh woe is me.
Seriously considering just getting a visa giftcard now - there’s no point in picking out a thoughtful gift if the person then does everything in their power to guess ahead of time and spoils the surprise.
